Styles of the World Japan

Our last stop on the fashion capitals of the world is Japan, where most fashion houses are located in Tokyo. The look of Japanese fashion is loose and unstructured. This is due to the complicated cuts and draping of the fabric that they use. The Japanese use subtle colors, but richly textured fabrics on their clothes. The famous Japanese designers are Kenzo, Issey Miyake (Who is a master at drape and cut), and Rei Kawakubo, who developed a new way of cutting.

To show off these masterful cuts I chose to show a dress that I found by Rei Kawakubo. As you can see the cut and draping of the fabric is much different from any other countries style. Though it is so different I find I can do nothing but to love the dress, it is very flattering for the body because of discreet placement of the buttons and fabric. When researching I did not know what to expect when people were talking about how amazing the Japanese designers were at their draping and cutting of the fabric. Perhaps the reason they are so great at this is because they used to work with draping and cutting with silk and other rich fabrics on none other than kimonos. These techniques may have been past down through the generations of the Japanese designers. Because of these methods, that they are so good at when designing, I can now see why they are so famous for it. This also leads me to know why they are considered a fashion capital and also why they are so different from every other one.

So that’s it folks. You have learned all that I can teach you about fashion capitals. I hope you enjoyed learning a little about each one. If you want to know more I suggest Wikipedia, yes anyone can edit it but whatever it is still amazing. So you all have a good day and be fashionable
