Styles Of The World United States

Ok, now for the beautiful United States of America sense of fashion. So assuming most of you readers live here, you pretty much know what is considered “in” right now. Now the two major cities that represent our style are of course Los Angeles and New York. This is probably because of where most of the stars live, and as much as I hate it, to be honest they really do affect our style and what is considered “in.” In America our, sense of style really does come from the European, especially that clean-cut look. Though we do add a certain casual look to it, it also shows some sportiness that American’s have. This sportiness was really developed by one designer in the 1940’s and 1950’s, and that designer was none other than Claire McCardell. By the way she is by far my favorite American designer. See the dress next to the right, which is one of her beauties. I love, love this dress! It shows some of the sporty, and preppiness that well a lot of American’s have. I mean come on the stripes and the whole dress screams out Martha’s Vineyard in the 1940 and 1950’s. With this dress I must say I wish I was there!

Now back to designers of today! Since Claire McCardell made a name for the United States, these designers made it even bigger: Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Uriel Saenz, AnnaSui, Donna Karan, Kenneth Cole, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, and Tommy Hilfiger. To define American style I chose this Donna Karan red dress. The reason is because America made womans sportswear to the modern clean-cut clothing we see today. With this dress, Donna Karan invented a cut never seen before, the shoulder cut. The reason she did this is because women love to show of their shoulders, it is a very slimming part of the body. So if you want this slimming dress it is on sale for $1,492.00 at Neiman Marcus. So I hope you learned a little about American fashion! Happy Shopping!
